Philip Ritte

British tenor (1871–1954)

Philip Ritte was a renowned British tenor who actively performed during the early 20th century. Born in 1871, he launched his career with a stage debut in London's West End, where he showcased his vocal talents in various Gilbert and Sullivan productions, as well as other comic operas and musicals. This marked the beginning of a successful journey in the music field, with Ritte eventually gaining popularity as a concert singer.

Ritte's concert performances, particularly his renditions of ballads, were highly acclaimed during the Edwardian era and the First World War. In addition to his concert singing, he also participated in concert parties at The Oval in Margate, Kent. His vocal abilities were further preserved through a number of recordings, which contributed to his lasting legacy. Ritte passed away in 1954, leaving behind a notable impact on the music scene of his time.
