Marshall Rosenberg

Marshall Rosenberg was a prominent American psychologist and mediator, born in 1934. He devoted his career to developing and teaching nonviolent communication, a conflict resolution process aimed at fostering partnership and harmony within individuals, relationships, and society. Rosenberg's work in this field began in the early 1960s and spanned several decades, during which he traveled the world to promote peace and understanding.

Rosenberg's experiences with violence and discrimination, including the 1943 Detroit race riot and antisemitism in his early life, deeply influenced his work. In 1984, he founded the Center for Nonviolent Communication, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting his approach to conflict resolution. As the Director of Educational Services, Rosenberg played a key role in shaping the organization's mission and activities. Through his teachings and writings, he inspired a global community of practitioners and continues to be recognized as a leading figure in the field of nonviolent communication. Rosenberg passed away in 2015, leaving behind a legacy of peace and reconciliation.
