Konrad Tom

Konrad Tom, born Konrad Runowiecki, was a multifaceted Polish Jewish artist, born in Warsaw in 1887. His creative pursuits spanned various fields, including acting, writing, singing, and directing. Tom's work in the music field was notable, as he penned song lyrics in both Polish and Yiddish, often for stage, film, and cabaret performances, including traditional szmonces.

As a prominent figure in the entertainment industry, Tom collaborated with other established directors and industry figures. He directed some of the most successful Yiddish talkies, which were comparable in quality to those of the Polish mainstream. Tom's personal life was also marked by his marriage to actress Zula Pogorzelska. He passed away in 1957, leaving behind a legacy as a talented and versatile artist. Throughout his career, Tom made significant contributions to the world of music and film, working alongside notable directors such as Waszyński, Ford, and Henryk Szaro.
