Meyer Rosenbaum (II)

Cuban rabbi

Meyer Rosenbaum was a prominent Cuban rabbi who played a significant role in the country's Jewish community. Born in 1910, he went on to become the spiritual leader of the Kehilla Adath Israel, a position that allowed him to guide and serve the local Jewish population. His leadership and influence extended beyond his immediate community, as he proclaimed himself the Chief Rabbi of Cuba, a title that reflected his stature and authority within the Jewish faith.

Rosenbaum's tenure as Chief Rabbi of Cuba lasted from 1948 to 1958, during which time he worked to promote and preserve Jewish traditions and practices in the country. However, in 1958, he left Cuba and embarked on a journey that took him to several countries, including Venezuela, Guatemala, and ultimately, the United States, where he settled in New York. Rosenbaum passed away in 2003, at the age of 93, leaving behind a legacy as a dedicated spiritual leader and a significant figure in Cuban Jewish history.
