فیزیک‌دان آمریکایی

Gregory Breit was a renowned American physicist, born in 1899 in Mykolaiv, which was then part of the Russian Empire. His academic career spanned several prestigious institutions, commencing with an assistant position to Paul Ehrenfest at Leiden University in 1921. This early role laid the foundation for his future endeavors in the field of physics.

Breit's professorial career was marked by appointments at several esteemed universities. He began as a professor at New York University from 1929 to 1934, followed by a tenure at the University of Wisconsin–Madison from 1934 to 1947. Subsequently, he held positions at Yale University from 1947 to 1968 and finally at the University at Buffalo from 1968 to 1973. Throughout his career, Breit made significant contributions to the field, although his specific area of focus is more accurately described as physics rather than astronomy, as his work and affiliations suggest a broader engagement with physical sciences. Breit passed away in 1981, leaving behind a legacy of academic dedication and achievement.
